Another left liberal venting about the problem but unwilling to really propose the solution.
The federal government is broken. The federal government is defined by the constitution. Easy to decide that the constitution no longer works for who the US is today. Lamenting about how the US government is not like Canada is pointless. The US is the most diverse nation in the world. We are not like any other country in the world. No surprise we have a unique problem on how politics has made our federal government dysfunctional.
Also dysfunctional is judging the motives of those that disagree with yours as corrupt. Unless you can get a significant majority of the population to agree, labeling the federal government or state governments as corrupt is meaningless.
The key is to stand up and say for the community and state you live in, you don’t believe the federal government represents your position. Much like BREXIT, we in the US need to change the constitution so that those of us in states with a majority who don’t believe in Trump are not impacted by him. The founders would be aghast not at Trump but at how big and powerful the federal government has become. They anticipated that someone like Trump could emerge. They protected against Trump by making states the dominant power. Almost 250 years later, states have given way too much power to the federal government. Time to take it back.
